“You have a lot of nerve offering your help after being one of the main reasons that I’m in this mess. Then there’s the question of what you did to Melody.” Snapping the fingers of her left hand Chain summoned a sphere of light within to a most distinctive of ringing sound while glaring down Professor Plume beaks as he strolled into the heart of the temple. “You wound me Chainmaid. I had intended to speak business with you before but you acted in a most undelightful way.” “You were attacking Melody and I won’t stand for that.” “Then perhaps taking you to her will absolve me of the crime.” “You would be a fool to believe that I’ll let you take the Bandit Eater from here Plume Beaks!” Interrupting Beaks attempts to offer Chain compensation for his prior actions the Bandit King fired off a shot at the professor as he threw Elliot aside with a combination of earth rupturing stomp and spiked ball led backhand. For all of the short lived success he had with tossing Elliot a...

Though Chain would have been reduced to paste had Elliot not deflected the Bandit King’s attack, she still smiled with her typical cockiness. “What’s the matter you grinning idiot; I thought I told you that I lost everything when that Tear of Automina crashed?” “What’s the matter Bandit Eater is that a Sycamore walks in my kingdom!” “Now is not the best time for your mocking Chain.” Elliot offered Chain a warning about her provoking of the Bandit King but she had little concern for the warning. Watching the Bandit King and his weapon she could clearly hear the Buidlers’ Song rise in verse. ♪ ~ Kings of beasts and magic both ~ ♪ ♪ ~ Like the lizard his tail re-grows ~ ♪ ♪ ~ Never falling the almighty dragon ~ ♪ Elliot’s attack that had shattered the chain of Roc’s weapon had long since passed and the weapon was able to reconstruct itself as the Builders’ Song described. With his weapon whole again Roc whipped it up into a storm that encircled everyone in the hear...

“I’ll answer your question after the Chainmaid answers my own Bandit King. Then we’ll see if I don’t have a reason to change my aim.” “I think you’re forgetting that I already said that the only question I want answered is in regards to the Bandit Eater’s relationship to Sycamore.” “Then you’ll be glad to know that my question should answer your question as well.” Roc finally took his eyes off of Chain and Elliot and looked back over his shoulder down the barrel of Uprooter’s gun and right into the Sentinel’s eyes. Finch showed no signs of fear and instead gave off an aura like a drawn blade waiting for a reason to draw blood. Roc locked eyes with the Sentinel for what seemed like an eternity but eventually sighed and closed his eyes. Turning his head back to face Chain and Elliot he bowed his head in resignation as he rested his hand cannon on his shoulder. “Alright kid, ask away. Once we’ve gotten the Bandit Eater’s answer I’m completing what I came here to do regardles...

“What did you just say?” “What do you think he said Bandit Eater?!” The glare that Chain tried to give Elliot was interrupted as the Bandit King suddenly pulled her from his shoulder and swung her around. As Chain arced about she was afforded a fine view of the heart of temple and its vaulted ceilings and spacious chamber that was more than large enough for Finch’s enormous Sentinel.   The cross shape of the room would be the only true detriment to Uprooter’s maneuverability as the column lined, raised dais filled the center space and required stairs to allow a person access to the platform. Smashing into the ground at the foot of those stairs and placed between Elliot and the Bandit King, Chain would not have a chance to see what it was that the dais held. “Guh! Honestly you grin–” Chain was about to admonish the Bandit King for the way he handled her but as she turned her head back to look at him she outright stopped. The typical toothy grin of his that resulted in ...

Celebrating 100 Story Posts

Good morning everyone, believe it or not but today marks the 100th update for the story. Considering scheduling hiccups and my tendency to be behind schedule, it's a great moment for the blog and one that makes me feel pretty good all things said. I can't rest on my laurels just because I've reached 100 though. I still need to bring the Stormroot Arc to it's conclusion and begin preparing for what comes next. So, please offer me your support everyone and I'll do everything in my power to get to the end of this arc. Thanks everyone and stay well ^_^

Contrast. There was no better way to describe the man and the environment he occupied. While peacock could have perhaps described the man himself fairly well, as he was tall and gaunt despite appearing to possess a certain strength and was dressed rather gaudily, even then he still contrasted his environment. Deep underground in a cave wrought with cooled magma and crimson red ice in enormous crystalline arrangements, the man was garbed in black boots, pants, and button up shirt with upturned collar and undone cuffs. He wore a shoulder holster for the sidearm he carried but it was all hidden underneath an unholy conglomerate of a military coat, cape, and lab coat that was held in place by ornamental gold chains. His hair was both heavy and greasy yet spiky and unkempt, and he wore a pair of spectacles before his piercing silver eyes that were adorned with a number of additional adjustable and retractable lenses. Through those lenses he observed the temple that shared the cavern w...

“You know, this isn’t what I was expecting to happen when I decided to go after Highperch and the king of Highroot.” Chain’s words were meant more to distract herself from the scene she watched as she looked over her shoulder. Morning had come, or so she surmised as the natural ventilation system of the underground labyrinth from the Age of Ash ferried about day light illuminating the whole of the ruin and the group no longer needed their campfire to see by. What she was able to watch though from where she hung on the Bandit King’s back behind his right shoulder probably did not require daylight however. Roc drew his hand cannon from its holster on his left side and aimed it at the wall of Ash that shimmered with a consumed inferno. Pulling at the chain at his waist which connected the two ends of his weapon and entangled Chain on his back, he began to whip it in a spiral motion. As he worked the chain it began to grow longer and longer, slowly resembling a circular gateway. As...
